A day to remember!

Friends,

Yesterday was my last visit to The Cleveland Clinic Center For Functional Medicine! YAHOOOOOO!!!

Last year at this time we could not have imagined being where we are today. No more doctors. No more chronic illness. A bright future. Happiness. Peace. Health!

Yesterday marked the end of a thirteen year era of chronic illness and a life focused on finding the way out of it.

You helped to get us here. You prayed for us. You financially supported us so that I could seek the medical help that I needed! Thank you so much! Not only have you helped ME, but so many others have been helped because of my journey! At this point, already 40 other patients at Cleveland Clinic Functional Medicine have been referred to the Dynamic Neural Retraining System because of the progress that my doctor witnessed in me over these past five months! This blog has also helped many people find DNRS and use it to begin regaining their own health!

The great thing about DNRS, is that people do not need to go to a doctor in order to start the program. It is a self-directed program. My doctor did not direct me through my DNRS journey. The only thing my doctor did was suggest that I try it, and the rest is history! I purchased DNRS coaching sessions as a way to support my DNRS journey, but no doctor was needed for my brain retraining.

If you know anyone with a mysterious and chronic illness, please send them to the DNRS website at WWW.RETRAININGTHEBRAIN.COM.

There are still some things that I am retraining on, and I will continue to do daily brain retraining for as long as I need to in order to complete my health journey!

With deep joy, and restored health,

Mariah and Travis

  2. Yeahhhhhh! Sooooooo happy for you! Excuse me if this is a silly question, but does this mean you don’t have to be overly cautious about mold exposure anymore or you still do? Loving you happy people up from across the ocean! Steph

  7. I’m glad you’re well, but I don’t understand how brain retraining can fix the faulty genetics involved in biotoxin susceptibility. Can you explain? Did you ever have HLA testing to show that you were genetically susceptible to mold or other biotoxins?

    • Hello! Sorry for the delayed response. It doesn’t fix faulty genetics. It helps calm the fight or flight response, which may be linked to the expression of faulty genetics. Annie Hopper’s book describes the science behind the DNRS program in great detail. It’s a good read for people who are curious about how it works scientifically.

Yes, I had all of the genetic testing done to confirm the biotoxin illness. I worked directly with doctors at The Cleveland Clinic Functional Medicine Department.

  8. Did you have to get toxins cleared out of your body before this treatment could be effective? It seems like this sort of thing wouldn’t work if you are still in “survival mode”.

Also, does the book describe how to do the retraining, or is it just a sales pitch for other products? I’m not interested in reading “triumphant stories of people who have recovered from chronic, mysterious and often disabling illnesses and relays the science behind remapping the brain for healing.” I just want to know how to do it myself.

  9. Hi TJ, I did do all of the CIRS protocols to get toxins out, but they did not help me feel better. I did infrared sauna (I purchased one and used it at home), I used cholestyremine, charcoal, many many supplements, hyperbaric chamber therapy, enzymes, and more. I was still in survival mode.

Survival mode is when the limbic part of the brain is very active. The DNRS program directly deals with the limbic part of the brain and helps you come out of fight or flight and into rest and digest. So if you are still experiencing survival mode, DNRS could very well help. There are other programs and modalities that address the limbic system as well, if DNRS does not sound appealing to you. You can check out Dr. Daniel Amen’s clinics for help in this area as well. I have heard very good things about them as well.

The book describes the science behind DNRS. It does not give you the steps. You do not need to purchase the book to do the program, but you do need to purchase the program to learn the steps.

You can go to in-person seminars as well. Both can be very helpful.
I have been to both the in-person seminar and have used the DVDs. They are both very good.

    • Hi Mariah, the idea makes sense. Chronic stress down-regulates the immune system, particularly antigen presentation, and that appears to be at the heart of CIRS. I’m just getting started on a brain retraining/stress reduction program myself, and it seems to be helping me sleep better, but getting a new toxic exposure upends everything for a couple days. Did you have to continue avoidance while doing the retraining work? For how long?

      • Hi TJ,

I made a list of all the things that I wanted to reintroduce into my life (food, places to go, activities, people) and then slowly added them in one by one, starting with the things that seemed easiest for me to engage. I retrained for a full 16 months. I have found that I still do better with a modified diet, as that has helped my digestive sensitivities. This has helped with many of the physical issues that I once had. DNRS helped me to bravely engage life in a new way. Dietary decisions were engaged once again after I completed DNRS. Both DNRS and other modalities can be utilized to reach our health and healing goals.
