Last Visit to Cleveland Clinic!
Friends, tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 10am Mariah will have her final visit with the delightful Dr. Hanaway at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine. This visit is a symbolic closure to the last 13 years of illness that she is finally coming out of, thanks in very large part to the attentive, wise, competent, and insightful care she received from Dr. Hanaway and the staff at the CCCFM.
We are just heading out for the 5-hr drive, fresh from a trip to the bank to get change for the tolls (a lesson I, Travis, learned the hard way on our way out west when I meekly offered the attendant my credit card for a $1.35 toll for which she promptly informed me they did not accept credit cards…).
In the picture above I am driving, and our smiles are more in protest to our life circumstances than in response to it. Today Mariah is doing the first leg of the trip, and we did NOT pack half of our fridge and lots of “what ifs” with us, because we are going to eat at a restaurant and Mariah doesn’t have to plan for every contingency anymore.
Rejoice with us, friends! And at 10am tomorrow morning pray a prayer of thanks to the Creator God who never tires of (re)creating us. Thank God for sending the Holy Spirit to actualize and empower Mariah’s brain retraining to take immediate and profound effect on her body and spirit. Join us in raising the ancient hymn of praise found throughout the psalter: “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, God’s steadfast love is forever!”

With love and gratitude,
Travis and Mariah
PS-For the last several years we have held a verse from Isaiah in our hearts that speaks of the Spirit of the Lord being poured out and the wilderness becoming like a fruitful field, and the fruitful field seeming like a forest. Here is Mariah rejoicing in that Scripture “being fulfilled in your hearing” (Lk. 4.21) in front of a radish field near our condo shortly before harvest!
