“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Roll your path on the Lord.  Trust on him and he will do it.”  Psalm 37:4-5

Friends,

We have many thoughts in our heads.

Like, a LOT.

And you know what?  Those thoughts often turn to worry.  Worry, worry, worry.

We don’t like to worry. It sucks the life, creativity, vigor, peace, and exuberance right out of us, and we will have none of that!

In spite of what our worrisome thoughts might lead us to belive (“You won’t find a house that works for you anytime soon.”, “You are going to burn through your financial resources and won’t be able to complete your journey.”, “You (Mariah) won’t ever get better.”, “You won’t find a temporary place to stay in Prescott tomorrow night because you have looked at over 25 rentals and they are either booked, moldy, or full of toxins.”)…we turn to delight.  God calls us to delight over and over again and it is an invitation that we do not want to miss! If there were ANY time to delight, it is now, in the middle of the fire, in the middle of the unknowns, in the middle of the wilderness of our lives.

Delight with us, won’t you?  Delight in the snow and the sun, the package that just arrived in the mail, the much-too-loud whisper of a child in your ear.  Delight in December and Advent and the coming of a King.  Delight in your body and your voice and your hands and your eyes – all your senses!  Delight in spite of the backache that kept you up last night, the beligerent child, the rude salesperson, and the financial strife. Delight.

Today we delighted in a place called Thumb Butte, Arizona.  We took a walk and let our lungs breathe the fresh air and let our feet walk on the earth. We will continue to delight in the midst of our waiting.

There are these amazing, circular weeds everywhere here.  A reason to delight!
TRIVIAL UPDATES:
1. I now have a purse. Hooray.

2. We now both own TWO pairs of shoes (one pair of sandals, one pair of tennies).

3. We are still sleeping on cots in the living room.

4. Travis doesn’t have a jacket yet, so is using my blanket at night if he needs to go outside. 🙂 This will be remedied shortly.

5. We did laundry yesterday in the tub….and accidentally stained their brand new tub BLUE from a pair of brand new blue jeans!  Don’t worry – after a few attempts, we managed to get it clean!  Whew!!

NOT-SO-TRIVIAL UPDATES/THANKS/PRAYER REQUESTS:

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!

1. Thank you ALL for your incredible and loving generosity toward us in our journey toward renewed health.  Your support has really kept us going!  Thank you for your emails, texts, blog comments, phonecalls and prayers!

2. We need to leave our imperfect, moldy Air BnB tomorrow, and we are actually kinda sad, because there seems to be “no room in the inn” here in Prescott for us.  We have two more options that we will look into today, but if those don’t work out, we will need to leave Prescott tomorrow.

3. We are looking at two to five rentals in Prescott tomorrow*. Slim pickins, huh?  Our realtor has done an INCREDIBLE job of walking alongside us in our time of need.  She has contacted so many rentals and asked them the important questions about water damage, when the house was built, seeing where the rental is located (inside or outside the city), etc.  After all of her diligent work, there are less than 5 rentals that are even potential options for us.

(*Tomorrow is kind of the big day for us, and we would really like to find a non-moldy, non-toxic home where we can unpack our boxes and start to settle a bit more.  Please pray for us as we look tomorrow.  We would especially appreciate prayers for great discernment in regards to if a home will work as a healing space for me, and that we would be given a space in Prescott if this is where God is preparing a space for us. Thanks!)

4. Per usual, I do not feel good. Your prayers are always welcome in this regard, especially in this time where much is demanded of us. Thank you!

SLEEPING BAG STORY:

After sleeping in our new sleeping bags the first night, we decided that we needed different bags. We were freezing! This is the conversation Travis had with the guy at a local outdoor goods store regarding getting different bags:

Man: “What kind of bags are you looking for?”

Travis: “Well, we bought some cheaper quality bags yesterday, and they were rated for 20 and 40 degree weather, but we were really cold last night.”

Man: “Oh yeah, I could see that, depending on where you were camping. It gets pretty cold around here at night (like below freezing), so those bags might not have been warm enough. If you were in Phoenix, those bags might have been okay.”

Travis: (pause) “We were actually sleeping inside…and we were still cold.”

Man: “Uh, yeah, then you should get a different bag.”

So, either we are wimps or the first bags we purchased were duds. I’m going for the dud vote.

Thank you so much for walking with us, praying for us, laughing with us, crying with us, and standing with us in hope that healing is possible and we are in the process of finding the path that will lead us to it!

  2. I love the circle weeds!!! Oh, my, this reminds me of the beginnings of our housing search. At one point, we told our kids we were like Abraham setting out for the Promised Land, not knowing where he was going, having to rely on God for each next step, and living in tents! (We only lived in a real tent 2 weeks, 🙂 although Winnebago months at a time, later.) It is a scary but amazing journey to be in such a position of reliance on God. Several times during these years we have not known where we would be sleeping that night. Anyway, the Lord DOES have a plan for you!!! I know you already know this. 🙂 It might be hard along the way, but God’s plan is always good, always the best for us. We looked at Prescott, too! Only long-distance, though; never got to the point of going there. God led us here instead. Wonderful about your Realtor! Praying for you!!!
