Cleveland Clinic Functional Medicine Visit (It was AWESOME!)

Yesterday, July 22nd, Travis and I met with Dr. Hanaway in the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine. One thing we came away with is this: Dr. Hanaway is AWESOME! We are so grateful to be under his care!!! VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!  We were thoroughly impressed with Dr. Hanaway throughout the appointment! He, along with another doctor who sat in on our appointment to take notes, had taken ample time before my appointment to go over my medical folder with a fine-toothed comb, so he was very ready to speak into my health situation when he arrived.  Their level of preparation was so encouraging! Our 75-minute appointment went about an hour and a half, and Dr. Hanaway talked and thoughtfully listened carefully to me the entire time. Not a second was wasted. We were deeply encouraged and empowered, and are incredibly grateful for Dr. Hanaway’s knowledge and expertise, and his wise approach to treating really complex digestive disorders! As you can see, he is a kind and compassionate man. VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: […]

Heading to Cleveland!

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!  It is time to GO!  We are heading out the door for Cleveland in just a few minutes!  The verses that we hold in our hearts are from Psalm 25:4-5. “Show us your ways, O Lord,  Teach us your paths; Guide us and teach us,  for you are God our Savior, And our hope is in you all day long.” My appointments are on Wednesday from 8:15AM to about 1PM. We will post updates to Facebook as we are able over the next few days, and on Wednesday itself (Trav will probably do most of this). And we will try to post a blog update as soon as we can after the visit is over and we return home and have a greater understanding of what the visit revealed, and what the way forward will be. VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!  Thanks for walking with us and hoping with us on this journey!  We couldn’t do it without you! With great love and expectant hearts, Mariah and Travis VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!

“It’s all in your gut.”

UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!  UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!  At the end of every doctor’s visit, I ask each doctor for their final thoughts and I ask them what they would do if they were in my situation.  Without fail, every doctor has said, without hesitation, “It is all in your gut”.  They then tell me what they specialize in testing for, and that they will test for those things in order to rule them out as potential causes to my health issues, but they really think all of my issues are in my gut.  They also tell me that I am  “doing everything right”, that I am “really organized, which is very helpful for them as my practitioners”, and that “it is just really hard” to have the constellation of issues that I happen to have, because they are really difficult issues (IBS, Chronic Fatigue, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis), to treat with a pill or a “one-size-fits-all” regimen.  The doctors will often look at me with a compassionate, puzzled look on their face and then say, “Ok!  Keep doing what you are doing! Send me the labs that the other doctors are doing on you.  See you in a month.” Every doctor’s visit usually involves some tears on my end, a lot […]

Cleveland, here we come!  (also meet doctors # 44 and #45)

UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!     UPDATE: Please go to this link to read how I have recovered my health using The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)!  Why, hello, Cleveland Clinic.  We will be visiting you in one short week.  Will you have good news for us?  News of health and healing?  News of hope and vibrant life being restored to us?  We sure hope so, and we will pray into that!  We will pray for the doctors and nutritionists and lab staff that will be overseeing my care!  We will pray for wisdom to be given to them in abundance!  We will pray that this is a place where we will be given answers to my health conundrum that has dragged on for 12 loooooong years. ********************************************************************************************** Two and a half years ago we applied to go to Mayo Clinic.  Insurance approved our referral, but Mayo Clinic denied it (yes, they can do that!)  Bummer.  We trust that it was not the time to go to Mayo Clinic.  A year ago, my doctor told us we should try to go to Cleveland Clinic, since Mayo Clinic denied our referral (they have been known for not accepting patients with longstanding digestive issues because we tend to be REALLY hard to figure out!)  This time, I was accepted by Cleveland Clinic and denied by our insurance (twice!). It has […]
